Whilst the Men and Ladies finished 4th, giving a Combined 4th overall, there were still some fine individual performances over the season, notably

  • Ethan Rowley, 3rd in the Junior
  • Kristian Watson, 3rd in the Senior Men
  • Ashley Deeming, 2nd in the VM45
  • Andy Nelson, winner of the VM65
  • Sam Crowe, winner of the Senior Ladies
  • Jo Potter, winner of the VL50
  • Rita Fisher, winner of the VL55
  • Linda Roulston, winner of the VL60

Matt Bickerstaff and Ben Rhodes took a yellow and blue one-two at the head of the race as junior, Dylan George, enjoyed one of his best-ever races to finish eighth.

The men finished second on the night to Sutton Harriers.

Heading into the final fixture at Shipley Hall Cricket Club next month, Heanor RC sit clear at the top of the men’s, women’s and combined standings.

The phenomenal numbers accounted for 15% of the total number of finishers and was second only to North Derbyshire’s 56-strong showing.

Matt Bickerstaff led home an impressive HRC 1-2-3, with Dale Aannable and Joe Rainsford occupying the next two spots just 48 hours after hitting the podium at the Ramathon in Derby.

Lisa Palmer-Blount dominated the women’s race and took the honours by over a minute ahead of Michelle Willcocks (Sutton Harriers). Louise Insley and Lily Winfield completed the team counters in third and fifth respectively.

Heanor Running Club made it a clean-sweep at the final BDL road race in August as an all yellow and blue top-six saw the men retain the title for another year and the women regain top-spot from Sutton Harriers following five wins out of five.

Kicking-off 2015 at Teversal Grange in mid-April, the five-race BDL series will take in the same venues as the last campaign and the club will be looking to repeat its winning ways for another season.
