25 members turned out in perfect wintry conditions at Bakewell Showground just 24 hours after hosting the North Midlands XC race at Shipley Park.

Joe Rainsford followed up his 6th-place finish the day before with his third BDL XC victory in a row. Joe led home four HRC men inside the first-11 to see the men take the team honours.

Lily Winfield finished second and 72nd overall to lead the women’s team to a much-improved second-place finish behind Matlock AC.

With two races left to run, Heanor RC sit pretty at the top of the men’s standings and second in the women’s rankings. The yellow and blue remain on course to take combined honours overall.

Joe took the win just twenty-four hours after placing fourth at the North Midlands XC League in Kettering.

Shane Rice crossed the line at the same time as both Richard Robinson (Sutton) and Luke Beresford (Ripley) and was awarded fifth-place sandwiched between the two.

31 runners turned out in another strong show in part two of a weekend cross country double-header.

Junior runner Mollie O’Hanlon led the way on the women’s front with a 103rd-place finish – and fifth female overall.

The men’s scoring ten trounced the field to finish top again while the women’s quintet finished third on the day and remain fourth overall.

Twenty-one turned out in yellow and blue just twelve hours on from the annual awards night.

Seven inside forty-two on the men’s side and three inside 77 for the women – led home by juniors Lily Winfield and Ashleigh Armstrong – ensured victory in both team standings at Trent Meadows.

Heanor RC lead the way in each category and overall heading into the final fixture next month at Holmebrook Valley Park.

Joe Rainsford competed in both races and led home another HRC 1-2 at Bakewell Showground.

Joe eased clear to enjoy his second BDL XC victory of the season. Team mate Chris Patterson occupied second-spot for a repeat of the opening day result at Shipley Park.

Fourteen year-old Lily Winfield took the female individual honours, finishing 22nd overall.

Fellow junior Ashleigh Armstrong backed Lily up with a third-place finish in the women’s standings, 42nd overall.

HRC took the male, female and combined team honours on the day.
