Covering 13.1 miles the route is as follows:

• Start at The Bell Inn
• Turn left on to Bell lane all the way to the Derby Lodge Tea Rooms (just over 2 miles)
• Turn right onto Shipley Lane, past Mapperly Reservoir (3 miles), through Mapperly to High Lane.
• Turn left on to High Lane heading towards Ilkeston (just before the 4 mile mark)
• Just past Straw’s Bridge (5 miles)  bear right to run up Derby Road
• At the Fire Station turn left on to Oakwell Drive until West End Drive
• Run down West End Drive (6 miles) in to the Golf Club following the footpath keeping the golf course on your left
• Turn right on to the Nutbrook Trail, past the Nutbrook Coffee Shop to pick up Slack Lane
• Slack Lane merges in to Coronation Road then you turn right back onto Mapperley Lane.
• Run Back along Mapperley Lane/Shipley Lane (10 miles), past the Tea Rooms going straight on down to Osborne’s Pond
• Turn left just before Osborne’s Pond following the path past 11 miles to the Visitor’s Centre
• Looping round the Visitor’s Centre building bear right to take the right hand path towards Bell Lane
• At Bell Lane, turn right to head backup towards Smalley Dam where the finish awaits!

New for 2016, Trafford 10k, Bupa London 10k, Great Birmingham Half Marathon and Liverpool Rock n Roll Half Marathon join the list of seven races to complete.

Out go the Shelton Striders 10k, Derby City Half Marathon, Derbyshire Track and Field Championships and Leeds Abbey Dash.

Congratulations to Joe Rainsford, Laura Beth James-Hutchinson, Dean Taylor and Jill Burke, who have each scooped the individual category prizes and will be presented with their award at the club presentation evening in the new year.

Needing to complete seven out of thirteen events to be eligible for category awards, Joe regained the title he lost last year and scored 173 points from his seven events, just two shy of the maximum.

Laura’s 2015 triumph was slightly more straightforward than twelve months ago. Laura successfully defended the senior women’s title she stole in on at the death last year.

Jill faced a much closer battle for the veteran ladies crown. Her tussle with Rita Fisher went down to the wire and, even though Jill scored fewer points overall, the cumulative total from her best seven was enough for victory.

And there’s a new name on the veteran men’s title as Dean Taylor bagged top spot in his first season with the club.

The Livingston Relays have been reinstated to the thirteen-fixture list and the senior men will be looking to retain the title they won for the first time last April. Out go the Midland XC Championships, Sinfin 10k, Hairy Helmet Relays and Ramathon and in come the Notts 10 Mile, Derbyshire 5,000m Championship on the track and inaugural Derby City Half Marathon.

The refreshed fixture list sees the North Midlands XC League, BDL XC and summer leagues retained whilst mainstays, the Sam North Mile and Worksop Half Marathon, have been replaced by a seaside trip in May for the Blackpool 10k and the Midland 6 & 4 Stage Road Relays in September.

Runners need to have completed seven events in order to feature in the final club championship standings.

The quartet rose to the top following the final event last month at the Leeds Abbey Dash and new names are set to be engraved on the trophies that will be presented at next month’s awards night.

Needing to complete seven out of twelve events to be eligible for category awards, taking home the senior spoils represents remarkable business for Laura and Stuart in what has been their first full season with the club.

Indeed, Laura wasn’t even a name on the radar in August but has crept up to take home the title. Stuart kept the challenge of 2013 champion Joe Rainsford at bay to take his first senior title.

In what was one of the most competitive Club Championship seasons in years, the veteran title rounds-off a momentous year for Lisa in which she has won British Masters titles galore and also represented England at the British and Irish Masters XC International.

Paul completed nine of the twelve races available and edged the veteran male category by a narrow four points ahead of season-long rival Paul Winfield.
