Junior girls in PB-setting midweek action

Junior girls, Emily Deeming and Lily Winfield, were in midweek action across the county border in Nottinghamshire this week as both continued their summers of improvement with personal bests.

Despite being sent the wrong way at the second race in the Nottingham 5k Summer Race Series, Emily went on to win the ladies race by over a minute. Emily, who has recently set personal bests over 200m, 800m and 1500m, clocked another as she crossed the line seventh overall in 21:57.

Lily hit the Harvey Hadden track on Thursday night for the Tim Wealthall Mile and duly delivered another personal best. Lily currently sits inside the UK U13 top-20 over 1500m and she showed her strength over the 109 or so metres more to stop the clock at 5:27.7. Indeed, in the fifth of seven seeded races on the night, Lily was the second-fastest female overall.

Ed Godber continued his taste for racing with a Wednesday night run out at the Tunnel & Trail 10k. The Wiksworth Running Club-hosted event saw Ed finish 12th in 41:31.

Ten HRC teams will line up for the fourth annual Hairy Helmet Relay this evening (20/06) in a race that is also part of the Heanor RC Club Championship. The Derwent Runners-hosted event on Darley Park is set to start at 7:15pm and will see forty runners in yellow and blue tackle the two mile course.
