So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu

Next week sees two Heanor RC juniors jet off to sunnier climes as they emigrate with their family to Perth, Australia. Brothers Jack and Charlie Saxton are saying goodbye to England to start a new chapter Down Under and they leave with the best wishes from everyone here at Heanor Running Club..

Jack has shown a real natural talent for the sport as he has combined it alongside his football commitments. Jack’s highlights have included winning U13 double middle-distance gold at the Derbyshire County Championships in 2012 as well as representing the county at the Inter-Counties Cross County Championships in Birmingham last year. Younger brother Charlie has also shown great potential and as an U11 last summer ran a cracking 6:21 for the mile.

Both boys have been an absolute pleasure to coach and get to know over the last few years and will be missed. The pair have shown great dedication and have been staple members of the junior section since its beginning in 2010. We hope they manage to keep up the good work in the southern hemisphere and though we will be sorry to see them go, wish Jack, Charlie and his family all the best for the future.
