Weekend Round-Up: 13-14 September

Lily - centre (number 1)

Promising junior athlete, Lily Winfield, continued her fantastic summer form to set another personal best at the Inter-Counties Track & Field meet in Hull last Saturday.

Running in the white vest of Derbyshire, the twelve-year old was selected to represent the county in the under 15 competition off the back of a super season that has seen her set personal bests in abundance. Lily’s July clocking of 5:01.09 for 1500m currently sees her ranked 13th in the country for her age.

Over just two laps of the track on Saturday, Lily continued her upward trend with another PB amongst quality opposition. The double-Derbyshire county champion smashed her 2:29.09 previous best by two seconds to finish third in 2:27.40 and can now look forward to the mud and hills of cross country.

Abbie Levers showed what rewards a consistent summer of training can deliver as she obliterated her personal best on the roads at the Lichfield 10k. Despite the course being a little hilly for her liking, the twenty-three-year old slashed over two minutes off her previous best to finish 12th female in 47:03.

Just one week on from his 1:32:52 performance at the Great North Run, Carl Hughes dipped inside the 40-minute mark in Lichfield to finish 36th in 39:58.

A week on from running 32:02 at the Wilne 10k, Dale Annable stepped-up in distance to tackle the undulating Ashbourne Half Marathon. Looking to defend the title he won in 2013, Dale came up against quality opposition in the shape of England international Ben Fish and eventually placed second among the 230+ finishers.

Mirroring Dale’s efforts, thirteen-year old Dylan George also finished second in the fun run.
