Heanor RC’s women took team bronze at the Wilne 10k incorp. Midlands 10k Championships last Sunday as Dale Annable led the way with a 12th place finish.

In breezy conditions, the trio of Louise Insley, Jill Burke and Rose Leivers clocked a combined time of 2:06.38 to see them finish third – and first in Derbyshire – behind Rugby & Northampton and Staffordshire Moorlands.

Louise ran her best time of the season to finish second V35-44 in 38:03. Jill (42:44) finished fourth in the V45-54 category as Rose ran a huge new personal best of 45:17 to complete the team.

Like the majority of runners, Dale Annable found the wind tough on the second lap but still managed to run over half a minute faster than at the same race last year, crossing the line 12th in 32:09. Dale led the quartet of Carl Hughes (39:51), Ed Godber (44:15) and Jeff Everitt (47:21) to 11th in the team standings.

Rounding off the yellow and blue’s efforts was Lizzie Poole, fresh from the Double or Quit race on Shipley Park less than 24 hours before. Lizzie and Jeff ran together and were awarded identical times.

At the Double or Quit race on Saturday night, hosted by Ilkeston Running Club, three HRC runners decided to go the whole hog and complete the ten mile distance, with Heather Wesson settling for the five.

Heather ran well to finish 5th female and 26th overall in 46:13 as one of our newest recruits Paul Harpham enjoyed similar success in the longer event. Paul managed to just hold off Rich Sims to cross the line fifth in 1:07.04.

Lizzie Poole was delighted with her 1:20.44 for 46th overall and 2nd in the V40 category as Abbie Leivers finished just a couple of minutes behind (and 6th female overall) in 1:22.52.
